By a nearly 3-to-1 margin, PCO's in the 34th Legislative District (West Seattle) endorsed the latest Monorail ballot measure:
Democrats in Mayor Greg Nickels' home legislative district have endorsed a November ballot measure Nickels opposes -- allowing construction of a monorail line shorter than the one voters approved three years ago.
The vote Wednesday by the 34th Legislative District Democratic organization to back Proposition 1 for the shorter line was 42-17, said Chairman Ivan Weiss.
Nickels attended and told fellow Democrats he planned to vote against the measure, looking fellow Democrat and monorail board member Cleve Stockmeyer "right in the eye" when he said it, Weiss said.
Nickels plans to vote against a measure that has yet to be released to the public? I don't know what the stare-down Nickels did is supposed to accomplish, except to say perhaps he is arbitrarily against any form of a monorail?
This is a complete 180 degree turn from Nickles' 2001 campaign platform to 'get the Monorail built' all the way up to his 2005 list of 'accomplishments' - thinly disguised campaign propaganda paid for by your tax dollars that listed 'building the Monorail' as one of his objectives for a second term.
